“When I arrived at Forest Trail Music Festival 2021, my first interaction was with a delightful gentleman who was painting a wall-sized mural behind where we would be setting up our grilled cheese tent. He gave me a big smile...and a T-shirt...and a friendship was born. Since its inception in 2020, the Forest Trail Music Festival has brought about countless friendships between people who live near and far. It’s a gathering of artistic, creative, and ultimately caring individuals that in just two short years has made many feel like part of “the family”. The Cameron’s, along with founders Noah and Bryce Cameron, have provided the land and opportunity for dozens of artists to come together and share their craft: from music to visual and culinary arts. The festival draws a wide range of people: all ages, backgrounds, and interests. The weekend is a unique celebration of the arts and community-and an integral part of what’s going great in West Michigan.”

I have been exploring smaller Michigan music festivals for a couple years. This past summer (2021) I was able to attend a wonderful event at the end of August – Forest Trail Music Festival. What a wonderful experience despite the torrential rains that weekend. It was a great family event, very well organized for a second year three day festival, and very reasonably priced.
While the music was provided mostly by area performers, it was very good and enjoyable. At the stage area, the large fire pit with shelf seating and lots of available firewood was quite unique. Although the rain created several challenges, the family run event was up for the task and addressed issues as soon as possible.
I have some physical limitations and found the family organizers extremely accommodating. There was regular shuttle service throughout the spacious camping area and the host family was always willing and available to assist.
I would highly recommend you try this small western mid-Michigan festival. You won’t be sorry.
